This course introduces major theories in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) that investigate human capacity to acquire additional language after the first language has been developed. Attention is paid to the role of universal, social and individual factors. Students examine the effects of bi- and multilingualism in childhood and in adulthood and explore classroom applications of current SLA research findings. Offered fall semester.
