Prerequisite: Any two of the following courses: HIST 111, HIST 112, HIST 131, HIST 132, HIST 221, HIST 222; or consent of instructor This course will begin with an examination of the implications of the commercial revolution in Western Europe and with the rise of the Italian communes and then explore the demographic, social, political, military, cultural, and economic history of western and central Europe during the Renaissance. Offered alternate years. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
