Prerequisite: Admission to the Professional Education Program; and SPED 202 or SPED 211 This course will provide students with the ability to assess educational needs of students with special needs, emphasize the considerations of non-discriminatory procedures appropriate to social, racial and linguistic differences, and examine the strategies for adjusting practice and determining progress toward intended outcomes based on evaluation results. Students will, through assignments and the successful completion of the term project, the Educational Assessment Report, demonstrate their competence in assessment of students with special needs. Students, as a result of this course, will demonstrate the use appropriate technologies to support their assessments. A 10-20 hour monitored pre-practicum field based experience is required at the level of licensure sought: Severe, all levels; and Moderate, PreK-8, 5-12. Offered fall and spring semester.
