This course is an introduction to the psychology department, its courses, and opportunities available for psychology majors, with an emphasis on student development and career planning. Students will be introduced to the curriculum with guidance on how to navigate the courses and high-impact practices available to psychology majors. Students will learn about psychology as a science, be exposed to the diversity of the field, and recognize the broad applicability of the psychology major. Students will enhance their professionalism, such as learning to access resources, communicate with faculty, and the metacognitive skills needed to be successful. This course is recommended for anyone considering psychology as a major. All psychology majors should complete this course during their first year as a degree-seeking psychology major. Graded on a (P) Pass/(N) No Pass basis. Offered fall and spring semesters.
