Prerequisite: ECED 230; and ELED 120 or PSYC 224 This course teaches students to make ethical, appropriate, valid and reliable assessment of both children and programs an integral part of their practice and their instructional decision-making. Students will learn to identify and use observation and assessment methods, both formal and informal, that are developmentally appropriate as well as culturally and linguistically responsive, and to make collaborative decisions that are responsive to young children's strengths, progress and needs. In addition, students will learn how to use and interpret the tools of DEEC's Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS). Offered fall and spring semester.
