Prerequisite: ELED 344 and ELED 360 and ELED 375 Corequisite: ELED 421 and ELED 430 and ELED 451 This course will examine the development of lessons and curriculum for the teaching of literacy (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Emphasis will be placed on the methodologies of delivering whole-class reading and writing instruction that is based on literacy assessment data in a supervised elementary pre-practicum setting. Continuing to explore Critical Literacy as the overarching theoretical framework, students will understand how to incorporate topics such as equity, diversity and social-emotional awareness as part of their literacy instruction. This course will also help students understand disciplinary literacy as a way of preparing grades 1-6 students for reading and writing the various disciplines (content/subject areas). Offered fall and spring semesters.
