This course will help students develop a conceptual framework to integrate technology effectively into the 5-12 classroom. Students will analyze strategies and tools for implementing technology into the 5-12 classroom and evaluate these strategies in relation to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards for educators. Students will gain knowledge of digital ethics, information evaluation, and the impact of new technologies on teaching and learning. Students taking this course are required to bring a laptop or tablet to class.
Students enrolled in the secondary education program must meet the digital literacy requirements as set out by the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education. Students may choose one of the following options to fulfill this requirement: (a) Completion of EDHM 215 or (b) Passing the Google Educator Level 1 Exam. Graded on a (P) Pass/ (N) No Pass basis. Offered fall and spring.
