In the course, students will develop a conceptual framework to integrate technology effectively into the K-12 classroom, with a particular focus on generative AI. Students will analyze teaching strategies and emerging technologies through the lens of the ISTE Standards for Educators, with particular attention to ethics, information literacy, digital citizenship, equity, and accessibility. The course emphasizes AI literacy as a critical component of modern digital literacy, exploring how AI tools can shape learning, creativity, authorship, and assessment. Students will evaluate digital and AI tools, examine issues of bias, privacy, and academic integrity, and design classroom applications that promote critical thinking and responsible technology use. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to meet Massachusetts DESE digital literacy expectations and make informed instructional decisions in technology-rich learning environments.
